Bradley Wiggins reveals drug-dealing father smuggled amphetamines in nappies says the Daily Mail Online

Bradley also revealed how he was ready to turn down the honour of being knighted – until he had a heart-to-heart with his hero Paul Weller.

When he told Weller – nicknamed The Modfather – he was thinking of turning down the honour because he had never seen himself as ‘a Sir’, the ex-Jam star talked him round.

Wiggins says: ‘He said, “It’s different for sport”. As soon as he said that, I thought I’d better take it. I kind of had his blessing.’

But although Wiggins heeded his hero’s advice, his castaway choices may raise a few eyebrows – he doesn’t select any of Weller’s hits. Instead he chooses Reasons To Be Cheerful by Ian Dury and I Am The Resurrection by The Stone Roses.
